What is a Dofollow / Nofollow Link Checker?

A dofollow/nofollow link checker reads the rel attribute of every link on a page. Links without nofollow, sponsored or ugc are “dofollow” and can pass ranking signals; links with those values are hints that Google may ignore. The tool also checks page-level nofollow in the meta robots tag and X-Robots-Tag header.

Browser extensions only work page by page and miss page-level nofollow. This tool shows every link in a sortable table, flags affiliate links without rel=”sponsored”, and can verify a whole list of your backlinks in one go – including whether the linking page can be indexed at all.

Frequently asked questions

Do nofollow links help SEO?

Since 2020 Google treats nofollow, sponsored and ugc as hints. They can still bring traffic, brand mentions and diversity to your link profile.

What is a dofollow link?

There is no “dofollow” attribute – it simply means a link without nofollow, sponsored or ugc.

Why does my backlink show as nofollow?

Either the link has a rel value or the whole page is set to nofollow in its robots meta tag or HTTP header.

Do I have to mark affiliate links?

Yes. Google’s guidelines say links that involve payment or compensation should use rel=”sponsored” or nofollow.

Is a backlink on a noindex page useful?

Much less. Google drops noindex pages from its index over time and may stop following their links.
