Free XML Sitemap Generator
Crawl your website and build a clean XML sitemap that contains only indexable pages – redirects, 404s, noindex and canonicalised URLs are left out, with the reason for each.
What is a XML Sitemap Generator?
An XML sitemap generator creates a sitemap.xml file that lists the pages you want search engines to crawl and index. A good sitemap contains only final, working (HTTP 200), indexable URLs – never redirects, broken pages, noindex pages or duplicates.
Most free generators simply dump every link they find. This tool checks each page first and tells you why any URL was left out, so the sitemap you submit to Google Search Console is clean and trusted.
What the XML Sitemap Generator checks
Every problem comes with plain-English steps to fix it, and every result is added to your downloadable Technical SEO report.
Follows internal links from your homepage (up to 40 pages) and respects nofollow.
Leaves out redirects, 4xx/5xx errors, noindex pages and pages that canonicalise elsewhere.
Adds lastmod only when your server sends a genuine Last-Modified date.
Already have URLs? Paste them and the tool checks each one before adding it.
Every excluded URL shows why, plus the steps to fix it.
Download a valid sitemap.xml with the correct namespace.

Common problems and how to fix them
| Problem | Why it matters | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Redirected URLs in the sitemap | Google wastes crawl budget and may ignore your sitemap. | List only the final URL after redirects. |
| 404 or 5xx URLs | Signals a poorly maintained site. | Fix or remove the page and update internal links. |
| noindex pages listed | Mixed signals: “index this” and “do not index”. | Remove noindex or remove the URL from the sitemap. |
| Non-canonical URLs | Duplicates confuse Google about the main version. | Only list URLs that are their own canonical. |
| Sitemap not submitted | Google may take longer to discover new pages. | Submit it in Search Console > Indexing > Sitemaps and add it to robots.txt. |
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a sitemap if I use WordPress?
WordPress, Rank Math and Yoast create a sitemap automatically (for example /sitemap_index.xml). Use that one and check it with our XML Sitemap Validator. Use this generator for static, custom or small sites.
Does Google use priority and changefreq?
No. Google ignores priority and changefreq. It uses lastmod only when the dates are accurate.
How many URLs can a sitemap have?
Up to 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed. Bigger sites split their URLs into several sitemaps listed in a sitemap index.
Where do I put sitemap.xml?
In the root folder of your website (public_html), so it opens at https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml. Then add a Sitemap line to robots.txt.
Does a sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. It helps discovery. Pages still need to be useful, unique and technically indexable.
