Free Indexability Checker
Find out if Google can index your page: status code, noindex in meta robots and X-Robots-Tag, robots.txt, canonical, soft 404, thin content and sitemap – with a clear yes/no answer and fixes.
What is an Indexability Checker?
Indexability is whether a search engine is allowed to add a page to its index. An indexability checker reads every signal that can keep a page out of Google – HTTP status, robots.txt, meta robots, X-Robots-Tag, canonical tags and soft 404s – and tells you in one line whether the page can be indexed.
A forgotten noindex, a canonical pointing elsewhere or a staging rule left in robots.txt can quietly remove pages from Google. This checker shows every indexing signal in one table so you can see exactly what blocks the page and how to fix it.

| “Discourage search engines” ticked | Whole site is noindex. | Untick it in Settings > Reading. |
| Canonical to another page | Google indexes the other URL. | Use a self-referencing canonical. |
| Blocked in robots.txt | Google cannot read the page. | Remove the Disallow rule. |
| Soft 404 / thin content | “Crawled – currently not indexed”. | Return a real 404 or add useful content. |
Frequently asked questions
Why is my page not indexed even though it is indexable?
Indexable only means nothing blocks it. Google may still skip pages it sees as low quality, duplicate or poorly linked. Improve the content, add internal links and request indexing in Search Console.
How do I remove a page from Google?
Add a noindex tag and keep the page crawlable until Google drops it. Blocking it in robots.txt stops Google from seeing the noindex.
What is X-Robots-Tag?
An HTTP header that can carry the same directives as the meta robots tag. It also works for PDFs and images.
Does nofollow stop indexing?
No. nofollow only affects links. Use noindex to stop indexing.
How long does indexing take?
From a few hours to several weeks. Submitting the sitemap and using URL Inspection speeds it up.
