What is a Structured Data Tester?
A structured data testing tool reads the JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa on a live page and checks whether each item qualifies for Google rich results. It replaces Google’s old Structured Data Testing Tool, which was retired.
Besides rich result rules, this tester checks whether your schema is in the raw HTML (readable by AI crawlers that do not run JavaScript), whether you have an Organization entity and breadcrumbs, and how your page looks when shared.
What the Structured Data Tester checks
Every problem comes with plain-English steps to fix it, and every result is added to your downloadable Technical SEO report.
JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa detection.
Shows which items are eligible, which need fixes and which Google no longer shows.
Flags a missing Organization/LocalBusiness/Person entity and missing breadcrumbs.
Tells you if schema is visible without JavaScript.
Open Graph and Twitter card checks with a live preview card.
See every parsed item as formatted JSON.

Common problems and how to fix them
| Problem | Why it matters | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| No structured data | No rich results and weaker entity understanding. | Add JSON-LD with Rank Math or our generator. |
| Schema only added by JavaScript | AI crawlers may not see it. | Output schema server-side (SEO plugin) instead of via Tag Manager. |
| No Organization entity | Weaker brand knowledge in Google and AI answers. | Add Organization with logo and sameAs on the homepage. |
| Missing og:image | Poor social share previews. | Set a 1200×630 social image in your SEO plugin. |
| Invalid JSON-LD block | Block ignored completely. | Use our Schema Markup Validator to repair it. |
Frequently asked questions
What replaced Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool?
Google replaced it with the Rich Results Test, and the general checks moved to validator.schema.org. This tool combines both kinds of checks with fix steps.
Why does my page show "Not shown by Google"?
Some types, like FAQPage (since 2026) and HowTo (since 2023), are valid but no longer produce rich results in Google.
Does structured data help AI Overviews and ChatGPT?
It helps machines understand entities and facts on your page, which supports being cited. Content quality still matters most.
Can I test a page that is not live yet?
Use our Schema Markup Validator and paste the code instead.
How many items can a page have?
There is no fixed limit. Every item should describe content visible on that page.
