Free Mobile-Friendly Checker
Test if your page is mobile-friendly: viewport, responsive CSS, fixed widths, font sizes, zoom, images and page weight – with a live phone preview and clear steps to fix every problem.
What is a Mobile-Friendly Checker?
A mobile-friendly checker tests whether a page works well on phones: correct viewport tag, responsive layout, readable text, no sideways scrolling and a light page weight. Google uses mobile-first indexing, so the mobile version of your page is the one that ranks.
Google retired its own Mobile-Friendly Test in 2023, but mobile usability still affects rankings, Core Web Vitals and conversions. This tool checks the code-level causes of mobile problems and shows a live 375 px preview so you can see the page like a phone user.
What the Mobile-Friendly Checker checks
Every problem comes with plain-English steps to fix it, and every result is added to your downloadable Technical SEO report.
Missing, fixed-width or zoom-blocking viewport settings.
Media queries, fixed widths over 480 px and wide iframes.
Font sizes below 12 px and tiny tap targets.
Images without width/height and missing lazy loading.
HTML size, script count and compression.
See the page at iPhone width right in the result.

Common problems and how to fix them
| Problem | Why it matters | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Missing viewport tag | Phones show a tiny desktop page. | Add <meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1″>. |
| Content wider than screen | Sideways scrolling, poor UX. | Replace fixed pixel widths with max-width:100%. |
| Text too small | Users must zoom to read. | Use 16 px body text. |
| Zoom disabled | Accessibility failure. | Remove user-scalable=no and maximum-scale=1. |
| Heavy pages | Slow on mobile data, poor LCP. | Compress images, enable caching, remove unused scripts. |
Frequently asked questions
Does Google still have a Mobile-Friendly Test?
No. Google retired the Mobile-Friendly Test and the Search Console Mobile Usability report in December 2023. Lighthouse and tools like this one check the same signals.
What is mobile-first indexing?
Google crawls and ranks your site using the mobile version of each page. If content is missing or broken on mobile, it is missing for Google too.
Is a responsive theme enough?
Usually it is the most important part, but page-builder sections, embeds and custom code can still break the layout on phones.
What font size should I use on mobile?
Use at least 16 px for body text. Small labels should not go below 12 px.
Why is the preview blank?
Some sites block being shown in a frame for security. Open the page on your phone or use Chrome DevTools device mode instead.
